Well, it looks like in my rush to keep ahead of the internet boogeymen I may or may not have mildly decreased it’s workability. [translation: I broke it.]
The short story is it is now back up and running [long story to follow], and I see we’ve got a bit of a rush on entries as we near the April 8th entry deadline. Keep em coming!
The long story:
One of the things to be careful of with a website is people targeting weaknesses in the software that drives their websites. Our software is hugely popular across the internet with bloggers and such, but the downside is it’s also a popular target for hackers. To keep the wolves at bay I routinely make updates to the software and plugins so that we’re as secure as we can be, but one side effect was that the plugin that drives the Entry Form got split into 2 separate, but necessary, plugins and we only had the one installed. Once I realized the mistake I got the second plugin, and tested it out to make sure everything is A-OK.
As well, for everyone’s peace of mind, we do not store any personal information on the website. All entry form information is sent to EIBT staff via email, and any online payment information is handled by Paypal’s secure system. Should worse come to worse, the worst case scenario is the site implodes and I get a very large headache.
