Rules and Entry

Tournament Rules

Remember, this tournament is run in a facility with children in it. We are all adults. Please act in an appropriate manner.

All tournament games will be run in accordance with official FIBA rules that would be relevant to 3 on 3 basketball, you can download a copy from us, or from the official FIBA site. The rules are in PDF format, if you cannot open the file you simply need to install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • Games are 20 minutes long, or until a team scores 21 points.
  • 3-point shots are worth 2 points, 2’s are worth 1 point.
  • Sub on any dead ball.
  • Ball is pass off top – Teammate can touch ball to make live.
  • Ball must be checked at 3 point line after every foul, out of bounds, or point(s) scored.
  • Alternating possession.
  • After 7 fouls, 1 free throw is awarded, with live rebound. If made ball changes possession.
  • After 10 min of being late your team forfeits game.
  • After 10 fouls, 1 free throw and shooting team keeps possession.
  • Shooting foul, 1 or 2 free throws, depends on the foul, with live rebound.
  • Referees have final say. No directors have any say on any call or any game.
  • To clear you need possession of ball with 2 feet outside arc.
  • Excessive cursing/violence/back talking results in a warning, a technical, then a team forfeit of the current game (an extreme act of violence will not be tolerated and may result in forfeit of game and/or expulsion from tournament).
  • Each team gets 2 one minute time-outs per game.
  • A player can only play on one team during the tournament.
  • There is no shot clock, however excessive stalling will be called at referee’s discretion.

Entry Guidelines

To be qualified for entry into the Eversley Invitational Basketball Tournament you must first meet the following requirements:

  • All entrants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of competition, as required for insurance purposes.
  • All entrants must be in proper physical condition in that their participation does not pose significant risk to their own health, or the health of fellow participants.

If you are not subject to any of the above restrictions and would like to participate in the tournament, please proceed with the entry process below:

  1. Complete our online entry form with your team’s information. [Deadline: TBA]
    • We will review your information and contact you to confirm your entry, pending reciept of your entry fee.
  2. Send in your entry fee ($28 per player) via Paypal or cheque. [Deadline: TBA]
    • Please do not mail cash
    • Please make cheques out to “Eversley Invitational” (word for word) and send to the following address:(TBA)
    • All proceeds from this tournament are donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
    • If you, your team, or anyone else would like to make an additional donation to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, this will be made possible at the registration desk on the days of the tournament.
  3. Have each member fill out a copy of our legal waiver to be presented at during the team check-in on the day of the torunament. If you are coming from out of town or cannot make the check-in for whatever reason, please show up at least 20-30min before your team’s first game to get it out of the way.
